It was a privilege to be sworn in recently as president of the Jacksonville Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. ABOTA is a national organization made up of equal numbers of civil plaintiff and defense lawyers. We are dedicated to the preservation of the right to trial by jury in civil cases, as guaranteed by the Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Our mission is simple, educate the public about the history and value of the right to jury trial, protect the independence of the judiciary, and elevate the standards of integrity, honor, ethics and civility in the legal profession. I am truly honored to lead our chapter in 2015.
